This is a Poster I designed and illustrated for the release of The Stray, a b/w short film by Ryan Rozar that I also acted in and did the special effects for.
In the film, a blackhole-like-being appears in a man's apartment every morning, and grows steadily until it is fed living matter. When the protagonist is prohibited from feeding it on time one day, the black hole continues to grow, and he must take more and more desperate measures in an effort to quell the creature's ever-increasing appetite.
Since it is a thriller/horror/sci-fi film we agreed that it would be fun for the poster to have the feel of some of the old classics of the genre, 2001, Solaris and even older films like The Day the Earth Stood Still etc.
The type treatment gives the overall feel a little bit of an 80's flourish as well.
